Colorado House District 53
I'm Randy Fischer, and I have had the privilege of serving you over the past three years in the Colorado State House of Representatives.
I was born and raised in Fort Collins, and have lived here my entire life. My wife Kathy and I have lived in the same home in our district for over 35 years. Kathy taught high school in Fort Collins for 26 years. I have strong ties to our community and know this district very well.
I attended Poudre School District schools and earned two degrees from Colorado State University, including a master’s degree in engineering. As a CSU student, I worked my way through college by helping develop outdoor education programs for Poudre School District. I also drove a school bus, did construction work, and worked in agriculture.

I am committed to protecting what's great about Colorado and to improving the things we can do better. Before being elected to the Colorado State Legislature, I already had a history of public service to this community:

As your representative , I am Chairman of the Agriculture, Livestock and Natural Resources Committee, I serve on the Transportation and Energy Committee, and I serve on the Appropriations committee. I also work as Deputy Majority Whip.
In response to citizen concerns about possible uranium mining near Fort Collins, I have taken action to prevent the risks that uranium mining poses to our community’s health, groundwater, environment, and economy. I sponsored legislation that toughens the standards for uranium mines. Despite determined opposition from powerful mining interests, this legislation was passed by the legislature and signed by the Governor.
I have also sponsored legislation that strengthens our schools, curbs the cost of health care, protects our environment, and energizes our economy.
I have considered it an honor to serve as your representative. I sincerely hope to continue to serve you for many years to come.
Sincerely,
Randy Fischer
