On The Issues

Randy Stands Up for . . .

Integrity and honesty in government

Colorado should set the national standard for honesty, integrity, and doing what's right for people. I will stand up for the people of District 53, while standing up to special interests.

Fiscal responsibility

I consider myself to be a fiscal conservative.  I will fight to make sure your tax dollars are used wisely and effectively.  With the passage of Referendum C, I will work to see that those funds are used to restore funding for existing programs, as the voters were promised, not for new programs.

Quality public education

I will stand up for quality educational opportunities for all Coloradans at all levels.  This means investing in teachers, modern classrooms, and smaller class sizes.  Coloradans want safe, supportive, and efficiently run schools.

Adequate funding for higher education

I will stand up for affordable, quality higher education, whether at trade schools, Front Range Community College, Colorado State University.  I am committed to helping CSU continue to play a role in developing new technologies that will make the world a better place.  Front Range Community College can train and re-train our workers for today’s and tomorrow’s jobs.  I will stand up to ensure that they have the resources and tools to take us into the future.

A healthy economy, job opportunities and support for local business

Government is a key player in fostering a healthy economy. It provides the building blocks to economic prosperity - strong education, good infrastructure at a reasonable cost, and a high quality of life. Our economic health depends on maintaining a great quality of life, excellent educational opportunities, and quality infrastructure that meets the needs of today’s businesses.

A health care system that works for Colorado citizens

I will stand up for an affordable and accessible health care system that works for the citizens of Colorado, not for special interests.  I will work to make health insurance affordable and accessible to working families and to small businesses, entrepreneurs and the self-employed.  I will stand up to special interests that keep prescription costs needlessly high.

Clean, renewable energy supplies

I'm committed to making Fort Collins and CSU the hub of clean energy technology through public-private partnerships so that together we can create jobs, support local businesses and agriculture, and reduce our dependence on foreign energy supplies.

Clear air, clean water, and protection of our open spaces

I will stand up for clean air, clean water, and the protection of our open spaces. Our quality of life and our economic vitality both today and tomorrow depend on our commitment to good stewardship of our natural environment. Our children’s present and future health depends on clean air and clean water.

One of my proudest accomplishments is having helped to pass the open space citizens’ initiatives for Fort Collins and Larimer County.  The open spaces and special places that has been protected forever will leave a legacy that we can all be proud of now and for generations to come.
